What a session at TH7 looks like

You check in, change, and take a seat inside the hyperbaric chamber. Pressure builds slowly over five to ten minutes, and during that time you’ll feel a sensation in your ears similar to a plane coming in to land. You then stay at that pressure for most of the treatment.

Our chamber specs and pressure (1.35 ATA mild HBOT)

The TH7 system uses a soft-shell mild hyperbaric chamber operating at 1.35 ATA, roughly 35% above normal atmospheric pressure. At this pressure, with enriched oxygen fed into the chamber, considerably more oxygen dissolves into the plasma portion of your blood than at sea level. That extra oxygen reaches tissue that ordinary blood flow can’t fully supply because of injury or inflammation.

Mild HBOT at this pressure is the format widely used for recovery and wellness. The way pressure is built inside the chamber and oxygen is dissolved into the blood is consistent with other mild HBOT settings running at 1.35 ATA. It works differently from a high-pressure clinical setting, where treatment for decompression sickness and carbon monoxide poisoning is delivered above 2.0 ATA. You can read more about hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers and how they work.

Session length, what to wear and what you’ll feel during HBOT

A session lasts an hour under pressure, with a few extra minutes either side for compression and decompression. Wear loose, comfortable clothes you can lie down in, and leave jewellery in the changing area.

Most people feel relaxed during the session and more alert afterwards. Some notice results straight away; others report sleeping better that night or feeling less muscle ache.

Who hyperbaric oxygen therapy is best suited to

HBOT suits people who train hard, and especially those also carrying a heavy mental workload. The reasoning is straightforward: with more oxygen circulating, the body’s healing processes have more to work with.

If your hamstrings feel tight, you’ve rolled an ankle, or you’ve recently had surgery and been cleared as suitable for HBOT, the therapy can support healing by improving oxygen delivery to the affected area. It’s there to support medical treatment, not replace it.

Increased pressure and oxygen help reduce inflammation at the cellular level and clear metabolic waste after hard training. For DOMS after a heavy leg session or a long run, sessions in the first 24 to 48 hours tend to make the most difference.

The brain is one of the most oxygen-hungry organs in the body. People often come out of a session feeling sharper and more energised through the day, and sleeping more soundly at night. Research into HBOT’s cognitive effects is still developing, though user feedback is fairly consistent on this. Our overview of the benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy covers the mechanisms in more detail.

Mild HBOT at 1.35 ATA is for recovery and general wellbeing. Carbon monoxide poisoning, decompression sickness, a diabetic chronic ulcer, radiation injury or other medical conditions need a clinical HBOT facility operating at 2.0 to 3.0 ATA.

Pregnancy, recent ear surgery, untreated pneumothorax and some respiratory conditions are also contraindications. Check with your doctor first.

Why athletes choose TH7 over a standalone HBOT clinic

Stacking HBOT with contrast, sauna and compression in one visit

Stacking HBOT with contrast, sauna and compression in one visit

Our Detox protocol runs the hyperbaric chamber alongside the sauna and contrast therapy in a single sequence. Heat opens up blood flow first, then the contrast therapy pool drives circulation and lymphatic movement, and the hyperbaric chamber follows to deliver oxygen into tissue that’s just been worked.

Compression boots or red light can also be built into your recovery routine. The compression boots pair particularly well with the HBOT chamber for athletes carrying heavy training loads.

Casual sessions, packages and unlimited memberships

HBOT sessions can be booked casually, and there are packages for regular visitors. A membership is the most economical option if you come weekly or combine HBOT with other therapies on each visit.

How often to come for a noticeable result

For recovery after an injury or an intense training block, two or three sessions a week for the first week, dropping to one or two a week after that, is enough. For performance maintenance, at least once a week is the guide.

Book your first session

Book online or call the studio. If it’s your first visit, let us know and we’ll help you stack a full protocol around the session.

Our soft-shell chamber is roomier and less enclosed than rigid clinical chambers, with clear panels so you can see out. Most people who expect to struggle settle within the first ten minutes. A staff member can stay nearby if you’d prefer, and you can end the session at any time.
