Ice Bath Gold Coast

Coming Soon

The TH7 Gold Coast studio is a full recovery centre built around an ice bath and six other modalities under one roof: cold immersion, traditional sauna, steam room, compression therapy, red light therapy and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. These run on the same protocols professional teams use. If you want recovery built for serious training rather than a one-off cold dip, you can book online.

Our setup compared with the typical Gold Coast ice bath studio

Most ice bath studios offer one or two recovery methods. The TH7 Gold Coast studio has seven. In a single visit you can move from a sauna to an ice bath and back out again, then use the steam room, compression boots, red light therapy and hyperbaric oxygen. The equipment is purpose-built for recovery, not repurposed gym kit, and staff guide first-timers through the order of the protocol.

The TH7 ice bath

Our ice baths run between 3°C and 6°C. The cold triggers vasoconstriction of the surface blood vessels and drops skin temperature quickly. It also drives a sharp rise in sympathetic nervous system activity, which is what prompts the release of noradrenaline. Sessions last 2 to 5 minutes.

Sequenced inside a protocol

A standalone cold plunge is one modality. Contrast therapy as a sequence is a different physiological event. In our Nordic approach, you cycle through the sauna, then the ice plunge, then back into the sauna, moving between heat and cold to drive vasoconstriction and vasodilation through the body. The order matters, and we’ve written a longer piece on sauna before or after ice bath if you want the reasoning behind the sequence.

Who an ice bath actually suits

Who an ice bath actually suits

An ice bath suits people who train hard and need to recover quickly between sessions, those carrying chronic stress who find cold useful for a fast parasympathetic reset, and anyone working on their mental and physical tolerance to cold. There’s more in our article on the benefits of taking ice baths.

When to use one and when to skip it

When to use one and when to skip it

Skip the ice bath if you’re unwell or pregnant, and don’t go in with heart problems or high blood pressure unless you’ve been medically cleared. Avoid an ice bath on the day of a power or speed event, since vasoconstriction can blunt your output. It’s fine to use on non-competition days or after an endurance session.

A note on strength training and cold exposure timing

A note on strength training and cold exposure timing

If your goal is muscle growth, it’s worth keeping cold exposure away from your weights sessions. A 2024 systematic review and meta-analysis found that cold water immersion done shortly after resistance training tends to attenuate muscle hypertrophy, likely by reducing muscle protein synthesis. The effect is specific to muscle size; the same research indicates maximal strength gains are largely unaffected. The reduction in protein synthesis has been measured for several hours after a session, so if you’re training for hypertrophy, it’s sensible to leave the ice bath for a different day or much later in the day. If you lift on Tuesdays and Thursdays to build muscle, an ice bath on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays or the weekend keeps the two from clashing.

Most people stay in for 2 to 5 minutes. Two minutes is enough to get the benefits when you’re starting out, so there’s no need to push for longer sessions early on. Our guide on how long to ice bath goes into timing for different recovery goals.

You can book it on its own. That said, most of the benefit comes from the contrast sequence, so it’s worth taking advantage of the full protocol while you’re here.

No. Casual sessions are open to anyone. Memberships reduce the cost per visit if you plan to come regularly.
