Why the Theralight 360+ beats a typical red light setup

Most red light options lean towards facial LED treatments or home devices running at lower irradiance. The Theralight 360+ is a different class of machine: full-body exposure in one treatment, higher irradiance, red and near-infrared wavelengths with a solid base of clinical research behind them, and a standardised protocol that takes the guesswork out of dosing. For anyone serious about skin repair, muscle recovery or managing inflammation, that combination is the point.

What a session on the Theralight 360+ actually involves

The Theralight 360+ is a full-body LED light therapy bed using red light at 630 and 660 nm and near-infrared light between 810 and 850 nm. You step inside, and the bed surrounds you with light from every angle for about 12 to 15 minutes.

You’ll feel only gentle warmth. The treatment is non-invasive, with no pain and no UV light. Because the light reaches skin cells, muscles, joints and connective tissue all at once, one session covers what would take several treatments on a panel.

Most people wear underwear or workout clothing, and eye protection is available on site. You can shower beforehand, but it isn’t necessary.

What red light therapy is used for

Red light at 630 to 660 nm activates fibroblasts, the cells that produce collagen and elastin. Used consistently, it supports skin renewal, more even tone and faster healing of damage from breakouts and sun exposure. People dealing with acne, fine lines, uneven texture or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation tend to notice tone improvements first.

Near-infrared light reaches deeper into muscle tissue, where it supports the mitochondria in muscle cells and helps blood reach damaged fibres so they recover faster. The result is less of the soreness that sets in 24 to 48 hours after a hard session.

Photobiomodulation can lower local inflammation and ease pain from joint stiffness, tendon problems and other chronic low-grade or post-workout pain. It works by raising cellular energy production and dampening inflammation at the site. The clinical evidence is strongest for knee osteoarthritis, where an umbrella review of randomized trials found moderate-certainty evidence for improved pain and disability. There’s more in our write-up on how red light therapy helps joint pain.

Many people report better sleep, steadier energy, sharper focus and a calmer baseline within a couple of weeks of starting regular treatment. The effects build over time, which is why red light therapy works best as part of an ongoing routine rather than a one-off. Our full list of red light therapy benefits covers how the cellular changes translate into day-to-day energy and sleep.

Red Light Therapy

How photobiomodulation works at the cellular level

Specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light are absorbed by cytochrome c oxidase, an enzyme inside your cells’ mitochondria. That absorption raises production of ATP, the energy your tissues use to repair themselves. At the same time, a brief release of nitric oxide helps improve local circulation and clear inflammation from the area.

How many sessions you need and how often

For skin concerns, three to five sessions a week for the first four to six weeks, then two to three a week for upkeep. For muscle recovery and pain, two to four times a week during heavy training or a flare-up. Consistency beats intensity: a weekly session once a month won’t move the needle, while three times a week for two months will.

Who red light therapy suits and who should hold off

It suits most adults, including those with sensitive skin, those recovering from medical treatment, and people dealing with acne, joint pain, slow-healing tissue or inflammation. Hold off if you’re pregnant, sensitive to sunlight, taking medication that increases light sensitivity (antibiotics, retinoids, antidepressants, isotretinoin) or have active skin cancer. If you have epilepsy or a thyroid condition, check with your doctor first.

Red Light Therapy Gold Coast FAQs

Yes. There’s no UV light, no thermal injury to tissue, and a large base of clinical studies behind it. The one precaution is wearing the eye protection provided.

Yes, and that’s where TH7 differs from a standalone treatment facility. You can layer red light before the sauna and contrast therapy for skin and recovery, after compression therapy for circulation, alongside HBOT for more significant injuries, or use it on its own for a general recovery session.

An infrared sauna uses far-infrared heat to raise your core body temperature and drive a thermal stress response. The Theralight 360+ uses red and near-infrared light to trigger photobiomodulation instead. For a side-by-side breakdown of red light therapy vs infrared sauna, we’ve covered the differences in detail elsewhere. The sauna heats you; the light bed signals your cells.

Gentle warmth from the LEDs and a bright light through your eyelids, which is why eye protection helps. No pain or discomfort, and nothing felt in the muscles or joints.

Underwear, swimmers, or as little as you’re comfortable with. More exposed skin means more surface area receiving light, which improves the dose. Staff will give you privacy to change.

Skin changes usually show after three to four weeks of consistent sessions. Muscle recovery effects are often noticeable within the first few sessions. Pain and inflammation results vary, but most people start to feel a difference after about two weeks.
