Full Body Cryotherapy Chambers

Say goodbye to fatigue, stress and inflammation

The cold temperature of our whole-body cryotherapy chamber (-80 to -110 degrees Celsius) acts as a mild form of environmental stress on the body that activates the sympathetic nervous system (our body’s stress response). This, in turn, stimulates various adaptive physiological processes in the body that contribute to improved cognitive function, mental resilience, muscle recovery focus and energy.

Benefits of Full Body Cryotherapy Chambers

The process of exposing oneself to extremely cold temperatures for a short amount of time is comparable to the beneficial stress induced by exercise or extreme heat in saunas and steam rooms. Known as hormesis, this controlled stress triggers positive adaptations throughout the body. These adaptive responses initiated by the cold work together to improve mental clarity and focus, increase metabolism and immune function, and improve muscle recovery.

Cryotherapy induces vasoconstriction in the blood vessels, directing blood from the extremities (arms and legs) towards the heart in an effort to maintain core warmth. Upon exiting the chamber, vasodilation occurs, facilitating the return of blood to these extremities. This process promotes muscle recovery by expelling metabolites and enhancing the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the muscles.

In practical terms, it provides a strength boost to your muscles, enabling you to train harder and longer.

Mitigate Inflammation

Whole-body cryotherapy is conducive to diminishing systemic inflammation and decreasing levels of markers associated with muscle cell damage. Consistent exposures to cryotherapy can result in enhanced recovery from pain and restoration of muscle function.

Unchecked inflammation can contribute to chronic diseases, and engaging in regular whole-body cryotherapy sessions can expedite muscle healing. This approach is frequently adopted by professional athletes seeking to accelerate recovery from muscle pain and enhance overall body performance.

Enhance Sleep Quality

Applying 3-minute whole-body cryotherapy post-evening training not only alleviates pain but also enhances parasympathetic nervous activity and sleep quality in individuals engaged in physical activity.

Sleep onset can be minimized simply by standing in a whole-body cryotherapy chamber. The progressive drop in core body temperature due to the extremely cold environment may contribute to regulating your circadian rhythm.

Enhance Collagen Synthesis

The regulated flow of cold air serves to boost collagen production, purging skin toxins and restoring elasticity.

By enhancing antioxidant levels in the blood and concurrently reducing inflammation, both localized and whole-body cryotherapy prove to be effective solutions for individuals grappling with chronic skin conditions like eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis.

Enhance Antioxidant Levels

Exposure to air pollution, dietary choices, excessive sun exposure, and unhealthy lifestyle habits can lead to an undesirable surge in antioxidant levels. Numerous studies indicate that regular sessions of whole-body cryotherapy can effectively diminish oxidative stress.

Reduces Arthritic Discomfort

A highly potent remedy for muscle and joint pain, cryotherapy provides swift relief by inducing a semi-hypothermic response to the cold air. Increased blood flow ensures the maintenance of the body’s core temperature, facilitating the elimination of toxins stored in the joints. With regular treatment, arthritic pain can gradually become a thing of the past.

Pro tip
If you are primarily focused on muscular strength and hypertrophy, you would not want to employ cold exposure during post-training window where it would blunt or attenuate the inflammatory response, which is an essential stimulus for the growth of muscles. For those wanting to gain strength and muscular gains, we recommend waiting 4-6 hours following strength training to engage in any form of cold exposure as a means of recovery.

Understanding Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy is a therapeutic practice that involves exposing the body to extremely low temperatures, typically ranging from -80 to -110 degrees Celsius, for a short duration, typically lasting between 3 to 5 minutes. Much like ice baths, cryotherapy leads to a systematic response from the body to rewarm itself, which can have multiple positive effects on one’s health. The central premise of cryotherapy lies in harnessing the principles of hormesis, a biological phenomenon where a controlled stressor induces beneficial adaptations in the body. During a cryotherapy session, the sudden exposure to extreme cold triggers a systemic response. Blood vessels constrict and then dilate upon exiting the cryotherapy chamber, enhancing blood circulation.

This process contributes to reducing inflammation, alleviating muscle soreness, and promoting efficient recovery post-exercise. Upon exiting the chamber, your body will begin to rewarm, during this phase, blood vessels dilate, facilitating the recirculation of blood throughout your body. Simultaneously, endorphins—the hormones known for promoting alertness and energy are released. These physiological responses will leave you feeling revitalised and energised for the day ahead!

In a typical cryotherapy session lasting 3-5 minutes, you’ll step into our specialised cryotherapy chamber equipped with essential personal protective equipment (PPE), including a face mask, gloves, socks, and ear covers. Throughout your session, our friendly staff will be nearby, ensuring your well-being and keeping track of time with a timer. You’ll have the flexibility to personalise your experience by playing music, creating a more enjoyable atmosphere. Additionally, if you dont want to do it alone, we offer the ability to book three people in a given cryotherapy session!
In a typical cryotherapy session we recommend wearing as little as comfortably possible i.e., swimwear or activewear. We will provide all of the essential personal protective equipment (PPE), including socks, gloves, ear covers, and a face mask to ensure your safety and well-being. If your protocol extends to additional therapies such as a sauna or ice bath, please remember to bring along a towel and a spare change of clothes.
The exposed skin of the ligaments, such as the hands and fingers, are particularly vulnerable to frostbite in extremely cold temperatures such as that of a cryotherapy chamber. As such it is required that everyone wears the provided personal protective equipment (PPE) in the cryotherapy chamber. These include gloves, socks, ear covers and a face mask. This PPE acts as a barrier between the skin and the cold air, providing insulation to keep the extremities warm and protected from the cold.
While full body cryotherapy is a relatively safe form of therapy, individuals with cold allergy or hypersensitivity, raynaud’s disease, high blood pressure/hypertension, under the age of 16 or pregnant are not recommended to engage in cryotherapy. If you are ever unsure, always consult with your medical practitioner first when wanting to try new forms of therapy.
